Privacy Policy

The protection of personal data is an important concern for us. In the following, you will learn what information we may collect and how we handle it. 
 
Data processing is the responsibility of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

1. General 

1.1 This registration platform is operated by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (hereinafter 'the platform').

The data will be used solely for the purpose of the application process, including the evaluation of applications, for the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue Media Fellowship and communication with the applicants and subsequently (if selected) participants of the fellowship.  

The legal basis for processing is your consent to this statement. 

The data will be used exclusively for the purposes described in the statement. Any other use will always be subject to further consent. Your data will not be used for advertising purposes. 

1.2 The protection and security of your personal data is important to us. The registration form stores and processes data exclusively within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). GIZ uses appropriate technical and organisational measures to secure data against unintentional or intentional falsification, destruction, loss or access by unauthorised persons. Access to your personal data is restricted to GIZ staff within the division G310 and the Bundesverband Erneuerbarer Energien e.V. as well as Invitario GmbH who need to process it for the above-mentioned purpose(s), and who will handle the information you provide in a proper and confidential manner.  

1.3 Your data will not be stored longer than necessary to finalize the application process and duration of the fellowship. Your data will be deleted after six months. 

1.4 The registration form does not automatically determine any directly personal data.

1.5 The registration form does not create any personal user profiles.

1.6 Saved data

  •  We legally store and process the following personal information when you use our platform for event registration:
  • Personal data: salutation, first name, last name, media affiliation, mobile phone, date of birth, e-mail address, country of residence, proficiency of English, CV, examples of work
  • Server Logs: The shortened IP address of the requesting computer, along with the date, time, request, which file is requested (name and URL), what amount of data will be transmitted to you, a message indicating whether the request was successful, recognition data of the requestor the browser used and the operating system used, as well as the website from which access was made (should the access be via a link). The server logs are stored to check the system security, to administrate the websites technically, as well as to be able to optimize the offer. These data will be leaked to law enforcement authorities should a hacking attack occur. A further passing on to third parties does not take place.
  • Evaluation of e-mails: Via our ESP (e-mail service provider) we automatically record and analyze the opening of e-mails as well as clicking on the links contained therein. 

2. Consent to data processing

The user agrees that his/her/its personal data, salutation, first name, last name, media affiliation, mobile phone, date of birth, e-mail address, country of residence, proficiency of English, CV, examples of workrequired for participation in the application process and fellowship as stated in the registration form will be stored by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. This transfer of data is necessary for the realization of the fellowship and its application process. A data transfer to further third-parties takes not place unless it is said so. GIZ GmbH has signed an ourtsoursing data processing agreement with Invitario and Bundesverband Erneuerbarer Energien e.V., following Art. 28 GDPR.

This consent can be revoked at any time by email to Erik Peters, erik.peters@giz.de. A revocation before the end of the event will result in the user not being able to participate for organizational reasons.

 
3. Rights of the users 

You are entitled to enquire about your personal data, have the data corrected if necessary, and ask for processing to be restricted or data to be erased. The data will then be removed from our system. The consent given to use personal data can also be revoked at any time. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing up to the time of revocation.

You have the right to approach the data protection authorities with complaints. The authority responsible is the German Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI). 

4. Use of data 

4.1 The registration form undertakes to secure the data against unauthorized access in accordance with the GDPR. The registration form stores and uses the data entered and transmitted by the user exclusively to the extent stated here. Upon deletion of the User, all personal data of the User will be deleted. Deletion of the user before the end of the event will result in the user not being able to participate in application process and fellowship for organizational reasons. 


Saved data
