The protection of personal data is an important concern for us. In the following, you will learn what information we may collect and how we handle it.

 

1. General

1.1 This registration platform is operated by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (hereinafter 'the platform').

1.2 The protection and security of your personal data is important to us. The Platform therefore stores and processes data exclusively within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You as a user agree to the data processing in the sense of this declaration.

1.3 The platform does not automatically determine any directly personal data.

1.4 The platform does not create any personal user profiles.

 

2. Consent to data processing

The user agrees that his/her/its personal data, namely name, title, company, position, e-mail address, and other data required for participation in the event as stated in the registration form will be stored by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. This transfer of data is necessary for the realization of the event. A data transfer to further third-parties takes not place unless it is said so.

This consent can be revoked at any time by email to Erik Peters, erik.peters@giz.de. A revocation before the end of the event will result in the user not being able to participate for organizational reasons.

If the user transmits data on behalf of third parties and/or makes declarations on behalf of third parties and/or conducts business on behalf of third parties, the user expressly declares that he agrees to this data protection agreement also on behalf of third parties and that he is authorized and/or commissioned to do so by third parties. The user shall indemnify and hold the organizer harmless in the event of a breach of these obligations.

 

3. Disclosure to third parties

Your personal data [name, title, company, position, e-mail address] are passed on to the following third parties:

Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE)

  • for mandatory documentation and activity monitoring of a BMWE-funded project implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

 

4. Retention and erasure of your data

Your data will not be retained any longer than this is necessary

  • in order to fulfil the purpose for which they were collected,
  • to fulfil another purpose that is compatible with the purpose for which the data are initially collected, as set out in Article 6(4) GDPR in conjunction with Section 23 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), or
  • to comply with statutory retention periods.

 

5. Technical and organisational measures to protect your data

GIZ uses appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect data against unintended or deliberate falsification, destruction, loss or access by unauthorised persons. These measures are updated accordingly based on technical developments and adapted continuously in line with the given risks.

 

6. Your rights

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right

  • to obtain information about your data stored by us (Article 15 GDPR),
  • to have your data stored by us rectified (Article 16 GDPR),
  • to have your data stored by us erased (Article 17 GDPR),
  • to obtain restriction of processing of your data stored by us (Article 18 GDPR)
  • to object to the storage of your data if they are processed on the basis of Article 6(1)(1)(f) and (e), GDPR (Article 21 GDPR),
  • to receive data that concern you in a commonly used and machine-readable format from the controller such that they can be potentially transmitted to another controller (right to data portability, Article 20 GDPR),
  • to withdraw your consent to the extent that the data have been processed on the basis of consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). The lawfulness of processing on the basis of consent given remains unaffected until receipt of the withdrawal.
  • In accordance with Art. 77 GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority for GIZ is the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI).

Saved data

We legally store and process the following personal information when you visit our websites:

Server Logs: The IP address of the requesting computer, along with the date, time, request, which file is requested (name and URL), what amount of data will be transmitted to you, a message indicating whether the request was successful, recognition data of the requestor the browser used and the operating system used, as well as the website from which access was made (should the access be via a link). The server logs are stored to check the system security, to administrate the websites technically, as well as to be able to optimize the offer. These data will be leaked to law enforcement authorities should a hacking attack occur. A further passing on to third parties does not take place.

Evaluation of e-mails: Via our ESP (e-mail service provider) we automatically record and analyze the opening of e-mails as well as clicking on the links contained therein.
